A well-cared-for baseball bat can last years, and there’s no way to know if or when it will break. There are a few things that you can do to help avoid breakage. Don’t use cold baseballs or a frozen bat. Bats and balls should be stored indoors and around room temperature or higher. Storing in colder temperatures will make the balls harder and the bat more brittle.

You can also limit the use in batting practice. A small percentage of every bat model will break prematurely no matter what you do. Most manufacturers offer 1-year warranties against defects and breakage, and some will offer multiple replacements.

They have the ability to slightly exceed the batted ball standard, so they will be worse than alloy to start, and should be better than alloy after they break in.
